Kimberly at Via Colori 2010

Kimberly was selected to represent City Art Works at the Via Colori 2010 festival benefiting the Houston hearing and speech impaired. Spindletop purchased the 10x10 foot square for $10,000 then City Art Works selected Kimberly's drawing to represent them. I am so proud she is my student!!!

Student's work

This picture is one a fifth grade student from Thornwood Elementary created as the sketch for the Via Colori Festival coming this Saturday. Her name is Kimberly. A number of volunteers from City ArtWorks will be helping Kimberly complete her work on the pavement with sidewalk chalk. Thank you for the opportunity to let City ArtWorks feature one of our gifted students for Spindletop Charities. Kimberly was selected by the school’s art teacher, Lee Darter, also one of our gifted instructors.

We hope to see you there, but if not, we will take lots of pictures.

My new studio

The window I picked out at the Habit for Humanity store is going into my studio, which my wonderful husband is building. I need to name it!

TAEA convention

What a wonderful time! And I survived teaching workshops. It was actually a ton of fun! Thank you to everyone who attended my Journal Station workshops. I will have all the lesson plans up by Dec 1st. I was also very honored to meet one of my biggest influences-Daryl Howard! It was awesome. I attended a lecture she gave at Sam Houston when I was a Jr. and it changed my life. And yes my eyes are blury but that is because I was crying!

Sketchbook Project Day one

I have signed on to be part of the Sketchbook Project. I joined the game a little late but I am ready for the task. Here is my title page. Starting on Feb., something, 2011 my art journal will be on display at the Art House on the Brooklyn Art Library. After that it will go on tour around America for a year and then go back home to the Library. The hardest part of the project will be letting my journal go. I have never been very good at selling my art. I have a mother complex over all my work as if I gave birth to them all. How can you sell your children? But this will be fun and others all across the country will see my work. I will let you know when it comes to Austin. My books website is
